Antique Door Knob and Back Plate from Train Car.
Great piece of history for collectors of Railroad memorabilia or door hardware.
This is an original antique door set manufactured for railway cars around 1890. The plate is marked S & M. S & M manufacturers door hardware for railcars in the late 1800s. The Blumin identification for this knob is J - 30500.
The knob measures 2 1/4" in diameter. The plate measures 6 3/4" in height. Takes a 3/8" spindle.
Pieces are solid and heavy. Made of brass or bronze (magnet does not stick).
Pieces are free of any major damage or issues. Minor imperfections and signs of use including a few dings/small dents on knob. See pictures.
